Goals

The Department of Military Science provides students an opportunity to earn a Presidential Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army or enroll in the United States Army Reserves or Army National Guard after graduation, concurrent with the pursuit of an academic degree. The objectives of the program are:

(a) to produce the officers leadership of the United States Army;

(b) to develop the leadership and managerial potential of the students to facilitate their future performance as officers;

(c) to develop the students’ abilities to think critically and to speak and write effectively;

(d) to encourage the development of mental and moral standards that are essential to military service; and

(e) to develop self-discipline, physical stamina and other qualities that are cornerstones of leadership excellence.
