Financial Aid Programs

Welcome to the Office of Financial Aid

At Mississippi Valley State University we are committed to assisting students and their families in meeting the cost of a college education. Our goal is to ensure that there are no financial barriers within our control that prevent you from earning a college degree. Financial aid is easier to apply for now, more than ever before, using the federal financial aid web site to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Most enrolled students can qualify. You can be full time or part time and receive some if not all federal and state financial aid.

The Financial Aid Office strives to provide personalized service to our students and their families. Every student is assigned a financial aid adviser who is available to answer any questions or address any concerns that you may have about financing your education. Please feel free to call us or stop by our office in the William H. Sutton Administrative Building with any questions. Additionally, you may view your financial aid information and status online through your student portal.

Financial Aid can help you pay for the costs of attending MVSU, including tuition and fees, books, and other costs (living expenses, transportation, and personal costs). Many MVSU students receive some sort of financial aid, so we encourage you to apply today!

The types of financial aid include grants and scholarships, loans, work study and etc. Some aid does not need to be paid back, some aid must be repaid, and some aid takes the form of employment.

To receive financial aid, you must be in a degree program, demonstrate financial need and maintain satisfactory academic progress. To find out whether you are a candidate to receive financial aid, see the complete list of eligibility requirements.

You can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at any time after January 1 of each year to receive funds for the following academic year, but you should apply by June 1st, if possible, since some grant funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. You must complete a FAFSA each academic year.
