    Thank you for your interest in the Fine Arts Department of Mississippi Valley State University! Whether you are interested in majoring in Music or Art or want to participate in our nationally renowned choir or band...we have a place for you at MVSU!  We will endeavor to find what is creatively unique about an individual and use that knowledge as the primary seed for their educational growth. Listen to our acting department head, Dr. Kimberly Broadwater, introduce our department. 

 

MUSIC PROGRAM

     The Music Program of the Fine Arts Department at Mississippi Valley State University provides undergraduate programs in music education and music performance, and offers cultural opportunities for the University and the community.  The music program's offerings are available to all segments of the population regardless of nationality, race, ethnic background, or religious affiliation.  The Music Program draws students from all across the United States.

     The academic program in music provides opportunities for concentrated study in music leading to the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Music Education degrees.  Music majors may concentrate on instrumental, vocal, or keyboard music and music composition.  Opportunities to pursue musical study are also available to non-music majors, pre-college music students, and the general public. The music coordinator is Dr. Ed Morse

 

ART PROGRAM

     The Art Program of the Fine Arts Department at Mississippi Valley State University provides undergraduate programs in two dimensional design and visual communications, and offers cultural opportunities for the University and the community.  The Art Program's offerings are available to all segments of the population regardless of nationality, race, ethnic background, or religious affiliation.  The Art Program draws the majority of its students, as does the University, from the Mississippi Delta.

     The academic program in art provides opportunities for concentrated study in art leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree for two dimensional design and visual communications.  Opportunities to pursue artistic study are also available to non-art majors, pre-college art students, and the general public. The art coordinator is Spence Townsend
