Why the Honors Program

  • Students receive instruction in small classes that promote intellectual growth.
  • Students may reside in special Honors residences.
  • Students can work and relax in an atmosphere conducive to intellectual stimulation.
  • Honors students’ transcripts are designed with an "H" to indicate Honors classes.
  • Students who successfully fulfill Honors Program requirements are recognized at graduation ceremonies and in the commencement program; receive distinctive diplomas; and wear white honor cords in the commencement processional.
  • Honors Program students have first consideration for private scholarships, fellowships, and summer internships; i.e. Thurgood Marshall, Alpha Chi, Alpha Kappa Mu, Jack Kent Cooke, and the Woodrow Wilson Foundation.
  • Honors Program students are taught by a cadre of the most exemplary professors at MVSU.
