Operating guidelines and procedures until further notice 3-19-2020

MEMORANDUM

TO: Mississippi Valley State University Employees
FROM: MVSU President Dr. Jerryl Briggs, Sr.
DATE: March 19, 2020
RE: Operating guidelines and procedures until further notice

For the past week, we have supported our University operations with limited staff (essential personnel) working on-campus and by allowing others to work remotely. With state officials now reporting the first COVID-19 related death in Mississippi, and the number of Mississippians and IHL institutions affected by the virus continuing to rise, the health and safety of our University’s faculty, staff and students remain paramount. Therefore, we will continue our operations with extremely limited staff on campus, reducing the density of social encounters and encouraging social distancing.

In an effort to minimize face-to-face interaction, we are currently enhancing our campus’ infrastructure. This will increase the capacity of employees who can work remotely. In the meantime, I am asking supervisors to continue reducing the number of on-campus personnel to the bare minimum and to rotate those employees who must report to the extent possible.

Moving forward, we will continue to follow all guidance and direction from the Mississippi Department of Health (MSDH) and Center for Disease Control (CDC).  As we continue to work through this unfortunate pandemic, we ask that you remain flexible and patient and together we will keep Valley in Motion.
