Job Description:

 

Maintains a safe and secure living environment by working in partnership with students, Residential Hall Monitor/Program Assistants and the staff of Residence Life and University College; monitors all individuals requesting to enter or exit the residence halls and requires all visitors to present identification and sign the guest, or visitor’s log; monitors the physical safety of the residential halls by performing foot patrol of the building, monitoring student behavior, securing the building, enforcing regulations, and reporting suspicious behavior; oversees the physical maintenance of the residence hall as it pertains to the Summer Developmental Program students (i.e., establishing procedures for key assignment and collection, prevention of abuse of furniture in lounges and rooms, checking the rooms before and after the program); encourages student’s responsibility and maintains safety and security in the residence halls by

 

  1. monitoring living communities;
  2. monitoring common areas and rounds;
  3. addressing behavioral and maintenance concerns; and
  4. enforcing policies; maintains order and appropriate behavior in the lobby and keeps assigned work area clean;

 

makes frequent rounds of the floors and enforces quiet hours as per policies and procedures; enforce all University, SDP and Residential Life policies, procedures and regulations; handles and/or refers student disciplinary issues, crises and personal issues to Dean of University College; performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Desired:

High school diploma or GED required; prior work experience in the security field preferred and/or prior experience working with high school or college students; ability to work midnight shift to early morning shift; prior experience working with culturally diverse high school or pre-college students; must possess effective oral and written communication skills; must have high level of maturity, be self-disciplined, reliable and dependable; familiarity with college residence hall policies and procedures; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
