In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all University-sponsored events and large on-campus gatherings have been canceled or postponed until further notice. 

The University is currently exploring options to enable certain events to be held virtually. An announcement will be made regarding those events once plans are finalized.

Zheng, Pitters recognized as MVSU’s 2020 HEADWAE honorees

JACKSON, Miss.—Outstanding students and faculty members from 34 Mississippi public and private universities and colleges were recently honored Monday, March 2, at the state capitol during the annual Higher Education Appreciation Day—Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) program.

HEADWAE was established by legislative resolution to honor individual academic achievement and the overall contribution of the state’s public and private institutions of higher learning. 

MVSU’s Garner named among DBJ’s “Top Minority Business Leaders”

ITTA BENA, Miss.—A Mississippi Valley State University faculty member was recently recognized as one of the “best and brightest” the region has to offer. 

Dr. Latonya Garner, chair of Mississippi Valley State University’s Mathematics, Computer and Information Sciences (MCIS) Department, was recently honored by The Delta Business Journal as one of the Top Minority Business Leaders. 

Newsome recognized by IHL for advancing diversity at MVSU

ITTA BENA, Miss.—The Mississippi Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning recently celebrated Black History Month by holding its annual Diversity and Inclusion Awards ceremony during its February meeting in Jackson.

During the ceremony, campus and community leaders were recognized for their efforts in advancing diversity and encouraging understanding and respect on their campuses. 

Glaude encourages action during MVSU’s 2020 MLK Black History Convocation keynote address

 

ITTA BENA, Miss.—“You cannot sit in your youth and not take responsibility for the world that’s coming into being,” said Dr. Eddie S. Glaude, Jr. to young people sitting among the audience in Mississippi Valley State University’s Carver A. Randle Auditorium.

“We are in the midst of an election cycle that’s going to require you. The country is in the midst of a transition and it’s up to you,” he added.
