Held Fast to a Dream Campaign

In 1959, the editorial staff of the Mississippi Vocational College Yearbook penned a heartfelt letter to their parents—a love letter to a vision. In it, they praised Dr. J. H. White for holding fast to a dream that had become a living reality. They honored the state officials who gave substance to that vision, the pioneering faculty and administrators who laid its foundation, and the friends across the nation who rallied to bring Mississippi Vocational College into existence. 

Seventy-six years later, that same dream still calls us. As the Mississippi Valley State University family, it is our sacred charge and shared duty to keep that dream alive. We must ensure that Dr. White’s vision continues to transform lives—educating students, uplifting the Mississippi Delta, and strengthening the State of Mississippi. 

This is more than a campaign. 
It’s a movement to tell our story, unite our voices, elevate our brand, fund dreams through scholarships, and fuel the programs that shape the next generation of leaders. 

Purpose 

The Held Fast to a Dream Campaign is a volunteer-led, peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising initiative designed to inspire MVSU alumni and friends to invest in students and strengthen the university they love. Through a powerful blend of viral outreach and personal engagement, this annual campaign amplifies impact and deepens connection across the entire Valley community. 

Campaign Kickoff: February 2, 2026 

The 90-day campaign launches on February 2, 2026, and culminates on April 30, 2026, coinciding with MVSU Giving Day. 
We’ll begin with an inspiring launch event featuring Retired Major General Everette Thomas, Alumni Speaker, who will introduce the Alumni Challenge alongside university leaders, the MVSU JH White Foundation, the National Alumni Association, and the V-Club. 

This historic moment will be broadcast live via Facebook and Zoom, allowing the entire Valley family to stand together as one. 

Campaign Goals 

Recruit 300 Team Captains 
Each captain will mobilize 5–7 alumni and friends to: 
Inspire giving 
Promote engagement 
Amplify awareness

By leading small circles, each captain becomes a ripple in a larger wave of Valley pride and generosity.
