 Job Description:

 

 

 

 

Maintain a safe and secure living environment for hall residents; greet and check the identification of all individuals entering the residence halls when necessary; answer all telephone calls in a manner that is professional, friendly, courteous, and efficient; taking messages as needed for resident students and staff and ensuring that the messages are delivered in a timely manner; keep front desk area in a neat and orderly fashion at all times; be familiar with and enforce residence hall policies such as: the release of resident information, i.e., telephone numbers, and room numbers; emergency procedures including server weather procedures, bomb threat procedures, medical emergencies, etc., residence Hall policies regarding visitation, alcohol, drugs and other policies; strictly monitor the hallways, and exit doors by walking the floors and maintaining visibility; (no admittance of persons of the opposite sex after visitation hours); demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and concerns of the residents; be familiar with persons living in assigned residence halls; provide information and assistance to University Police, as needed; prevent violation and enforce the University rules and regulations; keep and maintain a daily log prior to end of shift and make written reports of all incidents (violations, fire alarms, bomb threats, fights, vandalism, emergencies, etc.) in and around assigned area; admit students to rooms when they are locked out; meet regularly with the residence hall director and other supervisors to discuss any suggestions and possible problems occurring in the residence halls; perform specific administrative duties; attend staff training and follow rules and regulations governing personnel as stated in the Residential Life/Student Housing Handbook and University Personnel Manual; perform other duties as assigned by the Interim Dean of Students/Director of Residential Life.

 

Qualifications Required:

 

High school diploma required with at least one year of related experience in working a residence hall type environment; basic writing skills and computer usage, familiar with Microsoft Word, possess basic internet and email skills.
