Job Description:

 

The Learning Instructor provides intensive instruction in a computer assisted learning program for students who have been admitted to the Summer Developmental Program (SDP); teaches the basic study skills, problem solving skills, and use of various learning resources needed for success at the college level; initiates, facilitates, and moderates class discussions; prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts; maintain student attendance record, grades, and other required records and reports; compiles, administers, and grades examinations; maintains regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students; participates in program activities and events; manages the student’s behavior so that the student learns to be self-regulated and independent learners; prepares various assessments to track the student’s progress; performs all other relevant duties as assigned. 

Qualifications Required:

Master’s degree preferably in education or subject area; licensed in the subject area by the Department of Education, previous experience in teaching, curriculum development and/or management; previous experience working with secondary students and an at risk population; knowledge of or experience compiling and assessing statistical data; strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills with the ability to relate effectively with others at different levels including students and colleagues in other areas of education administration; competent in the content subject matter and licensed in a mathematics, reading or English content area; ability to motivate and effectively interact with the at risk population; thorough knowledge of computer applications and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
