At approximately 6:50 p.m., an incident occurred in the Charles Lackey Recreation Center on Mississippi Valley State University’s campus. Early reports indicate that there was a disagreement between a small group of individuals and at some point, one of them discharged a firearm. One individual, who is not a student at MVSU, suffered a gunshot wound. We’ve been informed that his injuries are not life-threatening. Currently, the perpetrator has not been apprehended. Therefore, as we continue to investigate this isolated incident, the safety of our campus and students remains our number one priority. As University Police continue to investigate this matter, we are urging the campus community to use caution and be aware of their surroundings.
