ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University's Office of Communications and Marketing is excited to announce Karrington Stockstill as the new communication specialist.
Stockstill previously served as project coordinator and social media manager for the Office of Communications and Marketing. In that role, she coordinated office project requests, managed the University's official social media platforms and led digital campaigns designed to increase engagement and strengthen the MVSU brand.
In her new role, Stockstill will continue overseeing the University's official social media presence while expanding her responsibilities to include strategic communications, event coverage and storytelling that highlights the achievements of MVSU, its students, faculty, staff and alumni.
"Karrington has consistently demonstrated creativity, professionalism and an a commitment to telling the Valley story," said Donnell Maxie, director of communications and marketing. "As a proud MVSU alumna, she understands our culture, our mission and the people we serve. Her ability to create meaningful content that connects with audiences has made a measurable impact on our brand, and this promotion reflects both her outstanding work and the confidence we have in her continued leadership."
Stockstill said the opportunity to continue serving her alma mater is both an honor and a responsibility.

Dr. Ernie Hughes, vice president for University Advancement, said Stockstill's promotion reflects the University's commitment to recognizing talent and investing in professionals who advance the institution's mission.
"Karrington has proven herself to be an innovative communicator with a passion for Mississippi Valley State University," Hughes said. "Her creativity, strategic thinking and dedication to excellence have strengthened our communications efforts, and I am confident she will continue to make a significant impact as communication specialist. We are excited to see her grow in this expanded leadership role."
An Itta Bena native, Stockstill earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications with an emphasis in public relations from Mississippi Valley State University in 2021. She later received a Master of Science in media management from Arkansas State University.
With five years of experience in social media management, Stockstill has earned multiple awards from the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM), including honors in sports promotional video, public relations marketing and branding campaigns, and social media.
As communication specialist, Stockstill will continue managing the University's official social media platforms while developing strategic communications that promote MVSU’s mission, accomplishments and continued impact.
