September 10, 2018

ITTA BENA, Miss.—Local servicemen and women are invited to the campus of Mississippi Valley State University Friday, Sept. 14, for the inaugural Military Appreciation Day.

The event, hosted from 8 a.m. to noon in MVSU’s Business Education Building, is designed to show gratitude to military personnel as well as share information about the array of educational opportunities MVSU offers.

“Our first Military Appreciation Day event is an attempt to engage the military community as well as a recruiting event for high school students. We are expecting to have ROTC students throughout the Delta to attend the event on Friday,” said Michael Taylor, MVSU director of Enrollment Management and the Greenville Higher Education Center.

The celebration will be an opportunity for MVSU to share more about its undergraduate and graduate academic programs as well as provide information about the University’s Army ROTC Program. During the free event, attendees will be treated to a continental breakfast and lunch.

Taylor said the event will also give participants the opportunity to engage with the Mississippi Veterans Affairs Board and local military branch representatives.

“Officials from the veteran’s affairs council as well as other veteran-related organizations will be on hand to provide vital information. The event is also an opportunity to give thanks to the military community for all of the great work and sacrifice for our nation,” said Taylor.
