English and Foreign Languages Presents the Zelma T. Howard Lecture Series

November 15, 2016

English graduating seniors will present the Zelma T. Howard Lecture Series featuring William Ferris’s The South in Color: A Visual Journal in the Technical Education Building - Room 169 at 11:00 a.m. on November 17.

William Ferris’s The South in Color: A Visual Journal is a visual documentation of the American South in the 1960s and 1970s. Different from his two previous volumes, Give My Heart Ease: Voices of the Mississippi Blues and The Storied South: Voices of Writers and Artists, that feature voices of blues musicians, southern writers, scholars, and artists with black-and-white photographs, The South in Color, which completes a trilogy of Ferris’s work on the South, is a personal memory of diverse racial landscapes through color photographs taken at the time when he began to use color photography to document the South and, particularly, the Mississippi Delta.

Faculty and students campus-wide are welcome to join DEFL in this research activity.
