     Dr. Brandon T. Cash has enjoyed an active career as a choral conductor, music educator and singer. He is the Director of Choral Activities/Assistant Professor of Music at Mississippi Valley State University, Itta Benna, MS. He is the former Director of Choral Activities at Maynard Holbrook Jackson High School. Dr. Cash also served as Director of Choral Activities at Mount Zion High School, Jonesboro, GA and Jonesboro Middle School, Jonesboro, GA. He is a native of Ashland, Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education PK-12 from Hampton University in Hampton, V.A (2007) where he graduated with honors. He continued at Hampton to receive a Master of Arts in Education/Counseling with a concentration in Student Affairs and College Student Development (2011). He completed his graduate music certification requirements in K-12 Music Education from the Piedmont College Demorest, GA, in the summer of 2014. He received a doctorate in Choral Music Education at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA in 2020. Throughout his academic matriculation, he has received many opportunities academically as well as musically, and has been the recipient of several honors. The most significant participation to-date as an member in the 2008 Roderick Dixon Opera Idol competition held during TODI Fest where Brandon placed 1st runner-up and won second place in the local NATS Vocal Competition. He served as the Graduate Director to HU Choirs.

     Dr. Cash has served as a guest soloist for area churches and programs throughout the greater Hampton Roads and Richmond areas. In December of 2010 he was debut as the tenor for the Hampton University production of Handel’s Messiah. In May 2011, he was pleased to be a part of the benefit recital concert for the scholarship fund at his local church back in Ashland, VA. He studied voice with Mrs. Lorraine Bell, (Director of Vocal Studies: Hampton University) Charlene Marchant, Dr. Sheila Maye (Hampton University) Gregory Gardner (Norfolk State University) Dr. Gregory Broughton (University of Georgia) and choral conducting with Royzell Dillard, Dr. Carl Harris (Hampton University) Mrs. Linda Tedford (Messiah College) Mark Cedel (Orchestral Conducting) and Dr. J.D. Burnett (University of Georgia) . Under his direction, MHJHS Choral Department scored superiors and excellent ratings at Georgia Music Educators Association’s Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) in performance and sight-reading. Additionally, students under Dr. Cash’s instruction participated in District Honor Chorus, GMEA All-State Chorus, Spivey Hall Workshop, All- State Reading Chorus and Solo and Ensemble Evaluation. He served as the musical director for “The Wiz” and “Once on this Island.”

     His groups were selected to participate in the Georgia State University: Choral Sing Fest Festival, and the Clayton State University Choral Festival. Most recently in December 2018, the Maynard H. Jackson High School Concert Choir performed at The Governor’s Mansion (Atlanta, GA). Dr. Cash is an active tenor soloist and also an avid clinician and lecturer working with middle schools through collegiate choral programs in the Metro Atlanta area and surrounding states. His teaching and research interest focus on urban/rural music education, equity and opportunity for all students.
