About Us

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) serves as the official coordinating office to assist faculty and staff with sustaining and increasing MVSU’s external funding as well as  enhancing both sponsored research and scholarly activity by faculty, academic staff, and students. OSP is charged with oversight of all grants and contracts administration at MVSU, to ensure that grant proposals and management are conducted in full compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and with University policies, and that each supports and promotes the mission of the University.  

OSP provides pre-award and post-award services and assistance with the following activities:

Pre-award Technical Assistance

  • Identifying external funding sources
  • Interpreting proposal guidelines and contract terms
  • Assisting with proposal development, organization, review and editing
  • Developing and reviewing proposal and contract budgets
  • Identifying and advising on cost-sharing and matching commitments
  • Coordinating the University's proposal clearance process
  • Managing and coordinating proposal submissions (paper and electronic)

Post-award Technical Assistance

  • Processing award documents
  • Facilitating grant and contract budget set-up
  • Interpreting contract and award terms and conditions
  • Providing new award orientation sessions
  • Providing information and training on compliance requirements with federal and state regulations
  • Managing the effort certification process for state and federal awards
  • Developing, reviewing, and routing subawards and contracts
  • Reviewing and submitting budget and project revisions to sponsors
  • Assisting with submission of project performance and financial reports

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Maintaining application and award information in the OSP database
  • Maintaining subaward and contract information in the OSP database
  • Preparing and submitting reports concerning state, federal, and private awards
  • Preparing and disseminating information to the MVSU administration, faculty, departments, and other interested parties

Professional Development and Networking

  • Conducting workshops and forums to provide pre-award and post-award information and promote grantsmanship
  • Maintaining a database of faculty research interests
  • Serving as a liaison between faculty and other administrative units within the University and between faculty and funding agencies

Committee Service

  • Institutional Review Board for Protection of Human Subjects (IRB)
  • Additional university committees, as required
