SSARP Spring 2023

HEERF III SSARP Emergency Relief Funds for Students

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) provides emergency funding to universities to assist students in need during the coronavirus pandemic. This funding is primarily made possible through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III), as authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), Public Law 117-2.

MVSU has received Supplemental Support under the American Rescue Plan (SSARP) and has established the HEERF III SSARP Emergency Relief Fund to distribute grants to eligible students to help cover expenses related to the cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care.

Funds from the HEERF III SSARP Emergency Relief Fund are not considered financial aid and do not affect a student's current or future financial aid eligibility.

Consistent with the requirement that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, the maximum amount of emergency assistance that is provided by this grant at this time is as follows:
  • $500 for students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of 0-6206
  • $325 students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) greater than 6206 or no FAFSA

As an alternative, students can, on their SSARP Grant Survey, choose to have their funds applied directly to any outstanding balance on their student account. When completing the Survey, students should select the option to apply funds to pay their account balance. If funds remain after covering your account balance, you will receive a refund for that amount.
