How can the Valley in Motion grant funds be used?

  • These funds are specifically intended to provide emergency financial aid grants to students to help cover expenses related to the cost of attendance for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare.

Who is eligible to receive the $3,000 Valley in Motion grant?

  • Returning and new MVSU students who are Pell-eligible, completed their 2021-22 FAFSA on file with the Office of Financial Aid and enrolled in (and not withdrawn from) a full-time load (minimum of 12 credit hours) for Fall 2021 semester.
  • Must be a degree-seeking student
  • Must have incurred an emergency expense due to COVID-19.

If I am eligible, how do I apply?

  • The application link will be available the first week of June. This application is for Fall 2021 ONLY.

When will the university start reviewing the Valley in Motion grant applications?

  • It will start following the last day for Fall registration, September 7, 2021.  These funds are specifically intended to provide emergency financial aid grants to students to help cover expenses related to the cost of attendance for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare.

When will I receive the funds?

  • You can expect to receive the funds during the month of November, 2021.

How will these funds be disbursed to me?

  • These funds will be disbursed using Bank Mobile, if you have not selected a refund preference with Bank Mobile, contact Student Accounts at 662-254-3016 or via email at studentaccounts@mvsu.edu to receive a temporary personal code.

If I do not qualify for these Valley in Motion $3,000 grant funds, are there other funds that may be available to me?

  • Yes, funds will be available for those students who do not meet the criteria above. All students are eligible to receive emergency financial aid grants to help cover expenses related to the cost of attendance for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare.
  • Eligible students also include international students as well as undocumented students, including refugees, asylum seekers, DACA recipients, other DREAMers, and similar undocumented students.

If I do not qualify for the $3,000 grant, how much emergency relief funding will I receive?

  • The following chart details funds available to students who do not meet the requirements for the $3,000 grant:

Full-time, non-Pell-eligible undergraduate student (must be enrolled and not withdrawn from the Fall 2021 semester), including Early College (11th and/or 12th grader who is solely taking college-level courses and enrolled full-time) $2000
Part-time undergraduate student (enrolled in (and not withdrawn from) 6 to 11 credit hours) $1000
Any other part-time undergraduate student, including Early College (9th and 10th graders), dual enrollment, non-degree seeking, non-credit, and continuing education students $500
Full-time graduate student (enrolled in and not withdrawn from) 9 graduate level class hours $2000
Part-time graduate student (enrolled in and not withdrawn from) 6 to 8 graduate level class hours $1000

 

Will my financial aid be impacted by receiving the Valley in Motion grant funds or any other funds I may be eligible for?

No. This is an emergency grant to help you manage expenses related to the coronavirus, and it will not have any impact on other financial aid you may be eligible to receive.

Who is not eligible for any grant funds?

  • Students that are not enrolled at the University during the Fall 2021 semester are not eligible to receive any grant funds.

If I am a student who does not qualify for the $3000 Valley in Motion grant, but may qualify for other funds, do I still need to apply?

  • Yes. The application link will be available the first week of June. This application is for Fall 2021 ONLY.
