Job Description:


The Manager of Alumni Affairs serves as a visible and articulate representative liaison between the university and its alumni constituencies.  Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for planning and facilitating all special events designed for alumni and implementing services and activities dedicated to alumni including but not limited to:

  • Research and identify annual fund prospects (alumni related);
  • Engage in the direct solicitation of alumni gifts (annual and major) to the university;
  • Manage the alumni class reunion challenge program;
  • Manage the Golden Anniversary Graduate program;
  • Provide service as committee chair in the active planning and implementation of the university’s annual Homecoming and Founder’s Day activities;
  • Share in primary management and participate in the writing/design/development of all alumni engagement collateral materials (i.e. alumni newsletter and/or magazine);
  • Manage the dissemination of alumni information via social networking vehicles (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Alumni Blog, etc.);
  • Actively visit with and engage the various MVSU NAA Alumni chapters;
  • Serves as the primary contact person for the alumni constituency, students, friends and others interested in information, services, and programs related to alumni;
  • Work collaboratively with the MVSU NAA &  Alumni Chapter Leadership;
  • Advise and manage the activities of the university’s Pre-Alumni club
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned or required.


Qualifications Desired:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree.  Consideration will be given to applicants with related experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, higher education or work with a non-profit organization.; two years of fundraising or similar experience is preferred; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential; proficient use of computers and appropriate software such as the Banner Advancement/Development module, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.; excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to work effectively with personnel and various constituencies at all levels; proficient knowledge of CASE standards along with current fundraising and development policies/best practices in higher education; high integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.
