habitat for humanity logoFor the past few years, Habitat for Humanities has partnered with MVSU's Community Service Learning Program during the Spring Semester as part of the Spring Break Away Alternative Projects. During the Spring of 2014, CSL volunteers helped to build a Humanity home for a family  in Tutwiler, Mississippi.

Habitat for Humanities is an ongoing project. Volunteer slots are available on weekends.  If you want to sign up, please come by the Community Service Learning Office or contact Jamekia Hilliard, Volunteer at 662-375-2152.

greenwood mentoring groupThe Greenwood Mentoring Group's Learning Center has partnered with CSL for volunteers to assist with the Summer Reading Program (grades 1 - 6) from 3:30 to 4:30.  During the school years, volunteers are needed to help mentor after school children with homework, study skills, etc.  The center says: 'Anyone who wants to volunteer can come when they want to.  You don't have to commit to a certain day of the week.  You just work when it fits your schedule".  The hours of mentoring are Monday thru Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30.  You may sign up in the CSL office or by contacting Bill Clay at 662-455-1195.

riverview nursing and rehab centerRiverview Nursing Home has partnered with CSL for volunteers to assist with the residents of the Nursing Home.  Volunteers will assist the staff with activities program, spend quality time with the residents, talking with them, reading to them and individual activities.  The hours will be daily from 10:00 a.m. -- 2:00 p.m.  You don't have to stay the entire hours.  You work to fit your schedule.  You may sign up in the CSL office or by contact Tori Harris at 662-453-8140.

The Boys and Girls Club located in Greenwood, Mississippi has partnered with

the Community Service Learning Office for students to volunteer throughout the year.
