Job Description:

 

The Admission Specialist provides clerical support in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and manages the data, records and files.  Essential functions:   data entry (applications, transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, etc.); evaluates individual student files per the IHL/University admission requirements, in order to render an admissions decision; performs complex research for supervisor; compiles, organizes, and analyzes information; assists in preparing comprehensive reports; assists speakers, consultants, committee members, and others in matters related to department; answers inquiries; gathers and distributes information; monitors departmental activities and reviews policies and procedures and makes recommendations for improvements; assists in formulating and implementing internal office procedures; assists in enforcing rules and regulations; reads, reviews and tracks incoming mail; recommends and composes appropriate responses; sends and receives faxes; notifies parties of intention to fax and confirms receipt of fax; sends and receives e-mail; assists recruiters with applicant file processing; assists with institutional reports.

 

Qualifications Desired:

Two years of college and three years of administrative office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted; ability to understand University procedures, curricular offerings, options, and placement and job facts and the ability to relay this information effectively to prospective students and parents; ability to plan and organize functions and/or events; ability to operate a variety of office machines to include personal computers, fax machines, telephones and copiers; advanced knowledge and skills in using office automation software applications such as Microsoft Office and online systems; ability to maintain confidentiality; strong writing and editing skills; ability to maintain calendar and schedule; knowledge of University and Departmental operations.
