Work Study
FEDERALThe Federal Work Study Program is a federally funded program which provides an employment opportunity to eligible college students. It is a program of financial assistance, yet it also provides students with gainful employment experiences during the academic year. The Federal Work Study Program is not a grant program. Federal work study is awarded to students based on their financial aid eligibility, as defined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. There is no guarantee that a student will continue to receive federal work study funding each year. New and Continuing Students are eligible. Federal Work Study Funds will be awarded based on the availability of funds. Download the entire STUDENT WORK-STUDY PACKET here. Your Award Letter will indicate the amount you can earn each semester. Consult with the Work Study Coordinator to see what positions are available. Are Federal Work Study Jobs on or off campus?Both. You will have the choice to work on or off campus. Off-campus positions are usually with private non-profit organizations or public agencies. The duties performed by you must be in the interest of the public. Quick tips for students:You must complete registration before a work study assignment is given.You must complete a work study contract with the Office of Student Financial Aid before you begin your job.You will not be paid for hours worked beyond the amount of your work study award. You can only work 20 hours per week. Time cards and sign-in sheets are submitted monthly for payment The Office of Financial Aid requires the following forms to be completed before you will begin your job assignment:- I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification)- Federal and State W-4s- Work-study Contract- Mississippi Employee’s Withholding Exemption Certificate- 2 forms of valid ID (Picture and Social Security Card) –presented at time of your sign-up Download the entire STUDENT WORK-STUDY PACKET here.
