FAFSA

FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION PROCEDURES (ANNUAL)

AFTER JANUARY 1 AND BEFORE APRIL 1 EVERY YEAR

  1. FILING – Filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can be done two ways:
  •  Paper Filing – Beginning January 2008, you can obtain a paper application from the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) by calling 1-800-4FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).  Once you complete the paper fafsa, you will need to submit it to the processor in pre-addressed envelope provided in the application packet.
  • Electronic Filing Easy as 1-2-3!  - You will go the FAFSA website to complete a FAFSA on the Web.  If you completed the FAFSA last year, you will complete a Renewal FAFSA.  You will also need your Personal Identification Number (PIN) to sign your application electronically.  To obtain a PIN, students AND parents can visit the PIN website at www.pin.ed.gov.  A separate PIN must be obtained for students (dependent) and parents.

Have questions regarding your FAFSA? Contact the Department of Education at

1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243)

2. Don’t forget to list MVSU’s Federal School Code 002424.  The receipt of your Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR) will be delayed if our school code is not listed on your application.

3.  You should review your ISIR (whether paper or electronic), to make sure everything         is correct.  An ISIR without an EFC #, is considered invalid and may require you to          submit additional information for processing.

4.  If no further information is required by the processor, the school will receive your ISIR and a financial aid package (award) consisting of federal, state and scholarship aid will be developed.  Students may review their award online at http://sutton2.mvsu.edu.

The Office of Student Financial Aid is committed to providing efficient service to our students.  You must submit all required worksheets and documents at the same time to ensure prompt service.
