International Programs at Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) will host Dinar Zhusupalievna Nuketayeva, rector and professor at Kazakh State Women's Teacher Training University during the week of April 6 through 11.
Rector Nuketayeva will give a public lecture on Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in the Science and Technology Auditorium, which is free and open to the public. Also, during her trip, she will meet with Dr. William Bynum Jr., MVSU president and other administrators and participate in the University's Research Day activities.
She will receive an honorary professorship in chemistry from MVSU.
As Rector, Nuketayeva is responsible for leading the university and ensuring its full integration into the international higher education arena. She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov in 1986 and a specialist degree in jurisprudence from the Zholdasbekov Institute.
She served as an elected Deputy of the Majilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan Parliament from 2004-2011, where she served as chair and member of the committee on social and cultural development. Prior to serving in the National Parliament, the professor was an elected Deputy of Zhambyl for Maslikhat raion in 1997 and served as Secretary of the Zhambyl for Maslikhat raion, Almaty oblast. She has also served as a kindergarten nurse and a high school chemistry teacher.
