The Valley Players are locked, loaded and ready for their annual fall production set for December 3 and 4. This year’s production brings a sense of reality to the stage with 3 perfect plays in 2 nights.
This theatrical event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Royal Room. The Valley Players will perform three plays titled “Stop Talking, Two Old Men and A Suggestion.
Stop Talking showcases the skills of student actress A’Shanti Weathers of Miami, Fla. as Rachel and Jennifer Rogers of Greenville, Miss. as Mary. It is a story of two ladies that are completely opposite, yet, one just insists on holding a conversation with the other.
Two Old Men will feature student actor Nicholas McClung of Itta Bena, Miss. as Jed and Dramond Washington of Lexington, Miss. as Ed. This is the story of two old men that sit and relive the glory days through long conversations of what they did “back in the day.”
A Suggestion shows a recently separated couple that split because of commitment issues from the boyfriend. Student actor Christopher Tanner of Cleveland, Miss. will star as Danny and actress Catrina Edwards of Grenada, Miss. as Karen.
A special presentation from Amanda Elzy High School’s Speech Choir will follow Stop Talking and Two Old Men.
“The show we have prepared is definitely one you don’t want to miss,” said student director Jovanna Peterson of San Deigo, Calif. “The scenes we have prepared are relatable and entertaining.”
Other student directors include Brittany Smith of Indianola, Miss., Denise Watkins of Greenwood, Miss. and Alexandria Edwards of Ruleville, Miss.
The Valley Players are a unit of the Mass Communications Department and consists of communication majors as well as students in other academic areas. The Valley Players are under the direction of Barbara Baymon, Instructor of Speech Communications.
