State's Alexandria Robertson has been
named one of four recipients of the 2013-14 Frank/Norrell Award.
Each year the SWAC designates a postgraduate scholarship to students accepted into a graduate program with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better (based on a maximum of 4.0).
Robertson had a stellar senior season in 2013 after leading the Devilette softball team to a SWAC Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. The Cedar Park, Texas native led the team in batting average (.388), slugging percentage (.764), runs scored (41), hits (69), RBIs (49), doubles (22) and home runs (13). The third baseman/shortstop was also tabbed Second Team All-SWAC and Hitter of the Year.
The Frank/Norrell Scholarship was established in 1998 and is affectionately named after former SWAC Commissioner Dr. James Frank. Frank, along with his wife, Dr. Zelma Frank, and Dr. Gwen Norrell, a former professor at Michigan State University, established the scholarship for student-athletes attending a SWAC member institution.
