Walmart First Generation Scholarship

First-generation college students in need of financial assistance: The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Walmart First Generation awards scholarships for $6,200 for the 2012-3013 academic school year. Students must meet the following minimum criteria to apply:

  • Be enrolled at as a full-time freshman at Mississippi Valley State University for the 2012-2013 academic school year

  • Have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher

  • Be a first-generation college student

  • Have demonstrated leadership ability through a variety of measures

  • Be a United States citizen

Deadline is June 15, 2012  

The Walmart First Generation Scholarship is open to all incoming freshmen/graduating high school seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Selected scholars will receive a one-year merit scholarship of $6,200 for the 2012-2013 academic school year, which can be used to cover the costs of tuition and fees, on-campus room and board and required textbooks purchased from member-schools. The funds are applied in the fall and spring semesters at $3,100 per semester. This is a one-time scholarship and is not renewable.
