The MVSU Recycling Center was started as a University endeavor to reduce landfill costs and make a positive influence on our environment, our Center has turned into a community recycling center and an educational center to promote sustainability and recycling throughout the University.
The mission is to promote the importance of recycling in achieving environmental sustainability and to provide opportunities for meaningful actions leading to lifelong recycling habits.
The center accepts corrugated and cereal box type card board, paper products including newspaper, office paper, magazines and shredded paper; plastic such as #1 labeled as #1 PETE (Polyethylene terephthalate) and #2 HDPE – milk and water bottles; electronics such as handheld video games, digital cameras, cell phones and computers; and ink cartridges. The center will not accept adhesives, garbage, bright fluorescent paper, wrap from paper reams, binders, brown envelopes, carbon paper, paper towels, food tape, food wrappers and plastic or Styrofoam cups.
Recycling on campus will be available at the following locations: MVSU academic buildings, residence halls, H.M. Ivy Cafeteria and the MVSU Recycling Center.
Hours of operation for the recycling center will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Curbside drop off will be available 24 hours a day.
