FY 2010-2013 Standing Committees

Academic Progress Rate (APR) Committee
Academic Progress Rate Committee:  To monitor the athletic program’s APR with policies and procedure relating to the welfare and well-being of the student-athletes, the overall academic performance and progress of student athletes toward graduation, retention, success rate, absentee class policy and the integrity of the course of study of student athletes. This committee is a screening committee for all at-risk student-athletes. Review cases in which it appears that there has been abuse of academic integrity in order to promote athletics programs.
Athletics CommitteeAthletics Committee: To foster University community confidence in the intercollegiate athletics program by ensuring that the program is striving to meet the mission and goals for intercollegiate athletics at Mississippi Valley State University.
Athletics Compliance CommitteeAthletics Compliance Committee: To monitor the athletic program’s compliance with policies relating to admissions, the academic performance and progress of student athletes toward graduation, and the integrity of the course of study of student athletes, seeking appropriate review of cases in which it appears that there has been abuse of academic integrity in order to promote athletics programs.
Committee on Committees
Committee on Committees: This committee is responsible for reviewing the purpose and activities of all university standing committees; recommending the establishment of new committees or the deletion of existing committees; recommending university personnel to serve on existing committees; and ensuring that all University standing committees perform their duties as charged. The Committee on Committees reports to the President and meets as needed.
Curriculum CommitteeCurriculum Committee: The primary focus of this committee is the development, review, renewal, and recommendation of curriculum to be approved by the Academic Administration and the Executive Cabinet. In addition, the mission of the Curriculum Committee is to provide guidance, advocacy, and oversight for the curriculum by ensuring that the curriculum is academically sound, comprehensive and responsible to the evolving needs of the community, so that the university’s mission, goals and educational delivery to students are well served.
Customer Service Committee
Customer Service Committee: This committee is responsible for recommending and promoting activities and services designed to increase excellence in customer service throughout the campus community. The Customer Service Committee reports to the Chief of Staff and meets monthly.
Diversity CommitteeDiversity Committee: The University Diversity Committee is responsible for providing leadership to the university's efforts to enhance diversity and to create a more inclusive community which is grounded in respect and appreciation for individual differences. The Committee endorses a broad definition of diversity and seeks to provide programs and resources that enhance knowledge and encourage understanding of diversity.
Emergency Preparedness Committee
Emergency Preparedness Committee: This committee is responsible for the development and implementation of campus-wide emergency plans and procedures. The Emergency Preparedness Committee reports to the Vice President for Business and Finance and meets quarterly or as needed.
Executive Enrollment Management CommitteeExecutive Enrollment Management Committee: This committee IS responsible for providing executive oversight to areas impacting enrollment including but not limited to admissions, recruitment, financial aid, retention, and student records.
Homecoming Committee
Homecoming Committee: This committee is responsible for the planning and promotion of activities for the University’s annual Homecoming Week activities. The Homecoming Committee reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and Diversity and meets as needed.
Judicial Affairs Appeals Committee
Judicial Affairs Appeals Committee: This committee is to only hear appeals from the Judicial Conduct Committee. It has no original jurisdiction. The decision of this Committee is final, subject to review by the President if he/she chooses. Petition for Presidential review is made by the Vice President of Student Affairs in writing within 24 hours of written notification of the Appeals Hearing Committee decision. The Judicial Affairs Appeals Committee reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and Diversity and meets as needed.
Judicial Affairs Conduct Committee
Judicial Affairs Conduct Committee: This committee is responsible for preserving and protecting the rights of students and to address any and all student behavior that is detrimental to the Institution. This committee is not designed to replace criminal courts but to ensure that students are held accountable for their actions as they relate to the MVSU Standard of Conduct and that they receive due process. The Judicial Affairs Conduct Committee reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and Diversity and meets as needed.
Library Committee
The Library Committee: The purpose of this committee is to evaluate library holdings and equipment for making appropriate enhancement recommendations. The Library Committee reports to the Provost/Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and meets as needed.
Lyceum Committee
The Lyceum Committee: The purpose of this committee is to plan and promote cultural awareness and cultural events throughout the University Community. The Lyceum Committee reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Enrollment and Diversity and meets as needed.
Mr. & Miss MVSU Advisory Committee
Mr. & Miss MVSU Advisory Committee: This committee is responsible for the planning and promotion of the activities designed to select Mr. & Miss MVSU as well as for the development and coordination of activities in which these university ambassadors may participate during their reign. The Mr. & Miss MVSU Advisory Committee reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and Diversity and meets as needed.
Scholarship Committee for Private Funds Committee
Scholarship Committee for Private Funds: This committee is responsible for reviewing applications for University scholarships and making the appropriate recommendations regarding recipients. The Scholarship Committee for Private Funds reports to the Vice President for University Advancement and meets as needed.
Special Occasions Committee
Special Occasions Committee: This committee is responsible for providing logistical support to University Standing Committees as well as Ad Hoc committees. The Special Occasions Committee reports to the Chief of Staff and meets as needed.
Technology & Telecom Planning Committee
Technology and Telecom Planning Committee: This committee is to evaluate, maintain and promote state-of-the-art technology across the campus and make recommendations related to the University’s telecommunication system. The Technology and Telecom Planning Committee reports to the Vice President of Business and Finance and meets monthly.
University Convocation Committee
Martin Luther King/Black History Committee: This committee is responsible for the planning and promotion of activities for the University’s annual Martin Luther King, Black History Month and Founder's Day Convocations. The Martin Luther King/Black History Committee reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and Diversity and meets as needed.
