Job Description:


Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for the academic curriculum of the institution, providing leadership to the faculty and managing the processes through which teaching is conducted and administered. The Vice President for Academic Affairs insures that the curriculum appropriately reflects the mission of the campus and that it is as current as possible in terms of disciplines and delivery. Essential Job Functions include:  serving as chief instructional officer for all credit and non-credit instruction; serving as chief instructional officer/official liaison to the Board of Trustees of Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning and oversees compliance with all SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Universities) instructional/faculty-related principles; providing leadership in instructional programming, program development and implementation, program review, articulation and transfer, and establishing/sustaining related community partnerships which support the instructional goals of the University; providing leadership and coordination of institutional resources to enhance access to programs such as developmental education and adult basic education; monitoring research and instructional program review, and providing data to faculty for use in curriculum development and revision; leading the development, review, and appropriate modification of the institutional Master Plan and providing strategic planning direction for all instructional areas; overseeing the revision of information for instructional programs as included in official University publications and electronic formats; and other duties as assigned by the President. Some evening and weekend work is required.



Qualifications Required:

This position requires a terminal degree with five or more years of increasingly responsible administrative work experience at an academic institution; experience in higher education administration is highly desired. The successful candidate will have earned or be eligible to earn the rank of a tenured Professor and must have a solid record of scholarly achievements including recent publications.
