2008 Homecoming Week

Headliners: Lil' Boosie, Pleasure P. and Comedian Gary Owen

Mississippi Valley State University will celebrate Homecoming 2008 as the Delta Devils take on Savannah State on Saturday, October 18. The game will cap off a week of entertainment headlined by comedian Gary Owen and entertainers Lil' Boosie and Pleasure P.

9 a.m. H. G. Carpenter Auditorium featuring Bishop Cary Sparks.

Valley of Scholars Concert, 7 p.m., H. G. Carpenter Auditorium, featuring the MVSU Concert Choir under the direction of Orlando Moss.

Monday, October 13 (Valley Apparel Dress)

SGA & Thompson Hospitality’s Green and White Lunch at noon in the Student Pavilion.

Faculty/Staff Talent Revue, 7 p.m., H. G. Carpenter Auditorium, featuring competition and awarding of prizes.

Tuesday, October 14 (Professional Dress)

Honoring Our Royal Princes & Princesses, 11 a.m., Royal Room, Jacob Aron Student Union. A SGA Green and White Reception immediately following ceremony, also in the Royal Room.

Vogue-Esquire Models Fashion Show, 7:30 pm, H. G. Carpenter Auditorium, featuring: The Vogue-Esquire Models of Chicago.

Wednesday, October 15 (Old School Dress)

Devil’s Hot Wing Eating Contest, 11 a.m., Jacob Aron Student Union Plaza

Student Talent Revenue, 8 p.m., H.G. Carpenter Auditorium featuring Comedian Gary Owen. MVSU Students with University ID admitted free; admission for all others, $5.

Block Party Jam, immediately following Talent Show, in front of H.M. Ivy Cafeteria. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Royal Room.

Thursday, October 16 (Tacky Day Dress)

Mr. & Miss MVSU 2008-2009 Coronation – Miss Iesha L. Jackson & Mr. John W. Carter, 7:30 p.m., R.W. Harrison HPER Complex Gym. Reception to follow, also in the gym.

Friday, October 17 (Green & White Spirit Dress)

MVSU NAA, Inc., 2008 Convention Registration, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Business Education Building

Green & White Luncheon, 11 a.m., H.M. Ivy Cafeteria, Dining Hall IV, Sponsored by MVSU National Alumni Association, Inc., Tickets, $25.

Campus Parade led by Dr. Roy C. Hudson, Parade Marshall, 2 p.m. The parade begins behind Carpenter Auditorium and ends in Rice-Totten Stadium. A pep rally, tailgate and barbecue will be held immediately following parade, Student Pavilion

Football Game, 1 p.m., Rice-Totten Stadium, Charles “Chuck” Prophet Field, Mississippi Valley State University “Delta Devils” vs. Savannah State University Tigers

President’s Reception, immediately following football game, Charles R. Lackey Recreation Center.

Homecoming Greek Show, 7 p.m., R.W. Harrison HPER Complex Gym. Sponsor by MVSU National Pan Hellenic Council, tickets, $15, advance; $20, Day of the Show.

NPHC Dance, 10 p.m., Charles R. Lackey Recreation Center Gym, sponsored by MVSU National Pan Hellenic Council. Tickets are $4 with MVSU I.D.; $5 for all others.
