Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC)

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference, headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., was co-founded by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Under the auspices of the Honorable Charles Steele Jr., President and CEO, the SCLC has expanded its range of interest beyond the national scope to the international community. President Steele has been a lifelong supporter of equal rights, safety and peace issues, and the improvement of the human condition.

The SCLC/Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Conflict Resolution through Nonviolent Intervention, Certificate Program, was designed by Dr. Denis Kelleher muhilly, Ed.D. There are two communication courses and two Kingian philosophy courses leading to a joint Certificate by MVSU and SCLC.

Under the leadership of President Steele, SCLC will establish a SCLC/Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Conflict Resolution Center. The Center will conduct research in the areas of Global Peace utilizing the Kingian Philosophy of Nonviolent Conflict Resolution through Intervention.
