Junior midfielder Cassy Russo and senior forward Jency Jose each scored twice as the Devilettes won their first conference match, a 7-0 win over Alcorn State.
After a scoreless first period, MVSU (2-7) found the back of the net early and often as they won their second game of the season.
Kayla Boyd began the scoring run off a indirect kick by Mandi Quirk in the 47th minute. In the 51st minute, Russo took a breakaway and scored making the score 2-0. Jose scored in the 59th minute when Christina Viscardi battled in front of the net before finding Jose for the tally. After another Russo goal (Nicole Forcier assist) and Jose unassisted goal after some corner kick action, MVSU led 5-0. Two goals in the final ten minutes (Alex Neumann - 82nd minute and Pam Johnsonton - 86th minute) ended the scoring and the final decision.
MVSU goalie Shelby Willcocks had five saves in the game.
MVSU will host Jackson State (Friday, October 8, 6 pm) and Southern (Sunday, October 10, 1 pm) in upcoming action.
