Two members of the 2010 Mississippi Valley State women's soccer team received preseason all-conference accolades with the team was announced prior to the start of the season.
Midfielder Kayla Boyd and defender Mandi Quirk were among those young ladies who received the preseason honors as the team was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Boyd, a second-team all-conference pick in 2009, finished the season with three goals and three assists. The 5-foot-6 sophomore from London, Ontario had the game-winning goal and an assist at Southern University.
Quirk, a 5-foot-9 senior from Mississauga, Ontario, played in 17 games scoring four goals with two assists. Last season, she had two goals and an assist against Alabama State.
In the predicted order of finish, the Devilettes received two first-place votes as they gained 67 points in the voting. MVSU was picked third behind Jackson State and Alabama A&M.
