When the 2010 preseason volleyball honors were announced on August 23, three members of the Mississippi Valley State program were named among the listed honorees.

Maura Moed, Lonnie Hoff and Brychana Williams were named to the preseason all-conference teams as the honors were chosen by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Moed, an all-conference and all-tournament pick last season, was the team leader in attack percentage (.256), kills (293), blocks (108) and points (415).  She also had 48 service aces (ranking her fourth in the league) along with 74 digs.  Moed registered double-digit kills in 14 matches and had eight matches with at least five or more blocks.  Last season, Moed had 16 kills twice, 15 kills twice, four service aces three times, eight blocks twice and five blocks three times.  She was also named conference player of the week.

Hoff, the 5-foot-8 junior outside hitter from Standard, Alberta, Canada has been a consistent contributor for the Devilettes this season. She posted a 1.93 kills per game average in 2009 and had a season-high .525 hitting percentage against Alabama State. Hoff was named the SWAC’s Newcomer of the Week twice in 2009.  Hoff had 15 kills versus Dillard, 12 kills twice and 11 kills twice.  She also registered seven assists at Alabama A&M, 18 digs at Southern, three aces at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and four blocks versus Grambling State.

Williams, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Belle Rose, La., had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Devilettes.  In 110 sets played, she had 174 kills, 14 assists, 19 service aces, 133 digs and 51 total blocks.  She had at least ten kills in three matches and had four matches in which she registered four or more blocks.  Her season highs include 19 kills and 15 digs at Southern and 12 kills versus Prairie View A&M.

In the predicted order of finish, the Devilettes were picked to finish third in the SWAC's Eastern Division.

The Devilettes will begin the 2010 season as they participate in a tri-match with Philander Smith and Lane College on Saturday, August 28 in Little Rock, Ark.
