MVSU runs at 2010 SASF Invitaitonal

The Mississippi Valley State women’s and men’s indoor track and field team competed at the 2010 SASF Invitational held at the Southern Illinois Recreation Center on Friday-Saturday, January 15-16, 2010.

In the women’s 60-meter dash, Janese Pryor posted a team-best 8.09 seconds in the preliminaries while Sierra Randle (8.13), Xandria Cash (8.15), Angel Williams (8.17), Tiffany Spann (8.27), Jo-Nee Collins (8.42) and Alicia Bell (8.44) each marked under eight and ½ seconds.

In the 200-meter dash, Shonese Evans led the Devilettes with a time of 26.01 seconds while Xandria Cash (26.06), Janese Pryor (26.72) and Angel Williams (26.96).  Cash was the top MVSU finisher in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 59.54 seconds.  Jodian Burke ran a mark of 2:38.91 in the 800-meter run while Winny Tauni finished with a time of 5:50.00 in the one-mile run before running 11:43.76 in the 3,000-meter run.  Tiffany Spann posted a time of 9.94 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.

In the 4-by-400 meter relay, MVSU team one (Candace Lee, Angel Williams, Janese Pryor and Xandria Cash) finished with a time of 4:08.90 while MVSU team two (Tiffany Spann, Jodian Burke, Sierra Randle and Shonese Evans) finished with a time of 4:24.59.

In field events, Sierra Randle placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.74 meters (18 feet, 10 inches) while Alicia Bell (4.85 m-15 feet, 11 inches) and Jo’ Nee Collins (4.74 m – 15 feet, 6 ¾ inches) each had jumps of over 15 feet.  Collins returned in the triple jump with a mark of 10.21 meters (33 feet, six inches).  In the weight throw, Marquella Wells had a throw of 8.38 meters (27 feet, 6 ½ inches) while Kreanna Hampton met a mark of 6.87 meters (22 feet, 6 ½ inches).

In men’s action, Hakim McClellan posted a time of 7.14 seconds in the 60 meter dash while Quinton Weeks had a mark of 7.15 seconds.  The duo came back in the 200 meter dash with respective times of 22.78 and 23.02 seconds.  McClellan placed sixth in the event.  In the 400-meter dash, Myron Lott had a time of 56.56 seconds while Jerrad Matthew had a time of 59.32 seconds.

In the 800-meter run, Caleb Davis had a time of 2:05.47 while Victor Kiplagat (2:07.84) and Myron Lott (2:15.24) also participated.  Hezron Chepkwone ran a mark of 4:45.67 in the mile run.  Victor Bii placed ninth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:04.99 while Robert Hernandez finished 20th with a time of 9:19.77.  The MVSU 4-by-400 meter relay team of Quinton Weeks, Marriweather LaDavey, Paul Cox and Hakim McClellan posted a mark of 3:27.01.  In the long jump, Damion Ray placed sixth with a distance of 7.05 meters (23 feet, 1 ¾ inches) while Hakim McClellan had a mark of 6.62 meters (21 feet, 8 ¾ inches).
