MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Terrence Joyner scored 17 points Saturday to lead the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State to a 66-60 win over Alabama State.
Joyner nailed a three-pointer with 14:43 left to give MVSU (3-11, 2-0 SWAC) a 37-36 lead, one they never let go off.
Blake Ralling converted two free throws with under a minute left that put the Delta Devils up 63-56. Cor-J Cox and Joyner then put the game away with three combined free throws of their own.
Falando Jones, who was named the SWAC Player of the Week, put up 12 points for Valley while Brent Arrington and Paul Crosby chipped in nine each.
MVSU shot 48 percent from the field and hit 7 of 14 three-pointers. They converted 7 of 15 free throws.
The win keeps Valley undefeated in SWAC play. MVSU will travel to face Alabama A&M on Monday at 5 p.m.
