ITTA BENA — Mississippi Valley State senior receiver Paul Cox is one of 10 finalists for the Sixteenth Annual Conerly Trophy Presented by C Spire Wireless.
The standout senior from Patterson, La., who has garnered the attention of several NFL scouts, finished the 2011 season with 36 catches for 619 yards and three touchdowns.
The program, set for Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in Jackson, awards the state's top collegiate football player. Each of the state's 10 four-year football programs nominated one athlete to be considered for the trophy.
Five finalists will be announced during the event and each of the five coaches will address the crowd. The winner will be selected by statewide media voters.
The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the program is set for 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $100 and a special $25 skybox ticket is available which includes stadium food and seating on the mezzanine during the program.
