
At the 2010 Waton Ford XC Invitational in Clinton, MS on October 8, 2010 The Mississippi Valley State Men's Cross Country team ran a strong race placing 1st overall among nine Division I schools. Beating out five other conference schools which included Grambling, Southern, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Alcorn, Jackson State University and non conference Tulane and ULA, Valley had three runners to place among the top ten. Victor Bii (Sr.) with a time of 25:56 placed 3rd, Hezon Chepkwony (Sr.) with a time of 26:47 placed 6th, and Robert Hernandez( Sr.)- 27:19 placed 8th. Other teammates placing and contributing to the overall victory is Victor Kiplaget (So.) - 28:01 who placed 15th, David Pulliam (Jr.) with a time of 29:02 placed 22nd and Myron Lott with a time of 30:44 placing 29th.
The Women placed 5th among the nine Division I schools beating out conference rivals Grambling, Southern, Jackson State, and Alcorn State University. The Devilettes ran a strong race placing three among the top 20. Some placings and times were: Joyce Chumo (Fr.) was 6th with a time of 23:48, Winny Tanui (Fr.) placing 16th with a time of 25:03, and Irene Cherubet (So.) placed 19th with a time of 25:15. Others teammates that contributed were Xandria Cash (Sr.) with a time of 29:41, Angel Williams(So.) with a time of 30:08, Deani Greene, Queona Williams, JoVanna Peterson, and Antia Cain.The Mississippi Valley State University Men and Women's next scheduled meet is October 16, 2010 in Fayetteville, AR, followed by the SWAC XC Championship in Clinton, MS at Choctaw Trails.
