Courses
The Master of Social Work Program at Mississippi Valley State University prepares students for professional social work practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Through this curriculum, the program instills in students advanced social work knowledge, values and skill in a manner which enables students to work with diverse cultures in a wide range of settings. Concurrently, special emphasis is placed on social work practice with impoverished minorities living in rural regions, such as the Mississippi Delta in which the University is located and committed to serve, as well as rural areas globally. Within the framework of rural social work practice, areas of concentration are Child and Family Welfare and Gerontology.
For students who entered program before August 2007: MSW Curriculum
Effective Fall 2007, Gerontology will no longer be offered as a concentration area. For students beginning August 2007 and after, Child and Family Welfare will be offered as the area of concentration. Adjustments are still being made to the tentative MSW Curriculum.
