Speech (SP)
Speech Communication
In order to graduate with a degree in speech communication, one must accomplish 124 hours in speech communication. For a minor in speech, one must complete 18 hours (exclusive of SP 201).
A student specializing in speech communication can enter graduate school, law school, teaching profession, speech pathology or any other exciting fields. The speech program also has a Forensics team which is active mostly in the spring semester. It competes in a campus-wide individual speech event and in the state college competition in
The tournaments are held among peers from colleges and university from across the state.
Speech Communication is a concentration under mass communication. In place of that, we state that the speech program now offers a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication. Thus, the Department of Mass Communications now awards two Bachelor’s degrees:
BA in Mass Communication
BA in Speech Communication
This means that all those students who elect to study speech communication will in the end receive the degree of “Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication.”
