Goals
The Goals of the Department/Unit
In view of the business environment from this perspective, the Department of Business Administration has four overriding objectives which help to prepare students to thrive in an ever-changing world. The four overriding objectives are:
- To prepare students for ethically and socially responsible roles in business and society;
- To develop in students the ability to recognize, analyze, and solve problems;
- To help students achieve their personal and career goals; and,
- To prepare students for entry-level positions in either private or public sector and prepare students for course work at the graduate level.
The Student Learning Outcomes for Accounting Majors
Upon completion of a B.S. degree in Accounting from the Department of Business Administration, students will be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate sufficient profiency in understanding the application of acounting principles and methods;
- Demonstrate intermediate-level knowlegde of financial reporting, auditing, cost accounting, accounting information systems, and taxation; and,
- Communicate their accounting capabilities effectively as evidenced by their written and oral presentation.
The Student Learning Outcomes for Business Administration Majors
Upon completion of a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the Department of Business Administration, students will be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate sufficient profiency in functional areas of business;
- Competently use computer application software that is commonly used in business, specifically word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools; and,
- Communicate effectively as evidenced by their own written and oral presentation.
