Honors Program
Students can qualify for a special certificate of Departmental Honors in a specific program by meeting the following requirements.
* Earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 with no grade less than “C” in any area.
* Earn 3.5 average for courses in the major discipline.
* Participate in an investigation on or off campus of an academic or practical problem under the supervision of a faculty advisor on or off-campus. A research advisor and two additional faculty in the major discipline, selected by the student, will serve as the Honors Committee. The Committee must approve a prospectus research prepared by the student and submit it to the Honors Committee before undertaking the research. A written report of the research in the form of a thesis must be submitted to and approved by the Honors Committee. The Honors Research thesis may be used to satisfy the senior project requirement of the program.
