Description

WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FINE ARTS

The Department of Fine Arts will make every effort to develop habits and attitudes within each student that will prove useful toward success as a graduate in the arts. We will endeavor to find what is creatively unique about an individual and use that knowledge as the primary seed for their educational growth.  We will teach and lead with enthusiasm, using the most practical and contemporary resources available, which will include personal creativity and ideas, as well as the knowledge, skills, and experiences of our leaders, peers, students, and colleagues to fulfill our mission.

Dr. Alphonso Sanders, Chair

The Department of Fine Arts offers students degrees in areas of Music and Visual Arts.  After completing an undergraduate degree, our students are afforded opportunities in professional careers as teachers, performing artists, consultants, and recording engineers among others.  Additionally, the Department of Fine Arts offers all MVSU students the opportunity to participate in both academic and artistic experiences in the arts through electives and required appreciation courses in arts and music.  Students may elect to minor in either of the degree tacks.  Because the creative process involves dialogue between teacher and student, programs are structured to allow for individual attention.  All programs provide a broad liberal education as well as specialized professional training from qualified faculty.
